Traffic -- particularly large trucks avoiding a narrow bridge into Willimantic (or Willimantic altogether) -- stop at the four-way stop north of the green. This activity is annoying to the local residents and potential cause for concern should there by any attempt to upgrade the intersection. Presently the Board of the Windham Free Library is planning on expanding the library. One design for the addition has already been rejected. The Board is considering other possible designs. Concern by the local community about the quality of the design and its compatibility with the historic neighborhood has generated renewed interest in establishing a local historic district.
