The site has already been compromised by the large office building constructed across the street. Prior to the time it was built, the park was the focal point of a largely intact and well-maintained historic neighborhood. Past proposed changes to the state road bordering the green threatened its integrity and were repelled by local initiative. However, the town is not convinced that the threat is over.
