Threats Details:
The Bridgewater green and buildings surrounding it are not protected by any historic designation but should be. A zoning ordinance has been created to protect its historic character but its effectiveness is questionable in the eyes of some local people. It has been reduced in size over the years, giving over to wider streets until today it can stand no further erosion and still be a functional green. The Department of Transportation's right-of-way for Route 133 cuts through the center from north to south. The size of the parking lot in front of the general store is substantial and should be carefully regulated. Any additional space needed for parking should be located behind the buildings away from the green.
