Veterans Park
|
|
This urban park opens out from Atlantic Street (which runs one way) to create a plaza and quiet space at the entrance to the Town Center Mall. To the north is a landscaped, raised concrete circle surrounded by benches and enclosing a reflective space dedicated to veterans. The space features a c. 1920s bronze statue of a running doughboy, four tall slabs depicting in relief the Four Freedoms, and a Freedom Shrine. The eastern side of the park contains a bulletin board, grassy knolls, seating and planting areas, and several structures placed by the Stamford Arts Program, which lead to the entrance to Saks Fifth Avenue in the Mall.
