Enfield Town Green

Located at the intersection of Enfield Street and North Main Street, the Enfield Town Green is a large (14-acre) expanse of lawn with an octagonal gazebo as its centerpiece. The gazebo has a brick base that supports a balustrade. Wooden posts and brackets support the conical roof, which is covered with wooden shingles. A bronze weathervane in the shape of a drummer boy tops the ensemble. The gazebo is at the highest point of the green, 8 feet above North Main Street. Small trees line North Main Street, a result of a grant from the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection. Several mature shade trees grace the hillside. Shrubs are grouped in masses, two groupings adjacent to Enfield Street and one adjacent to North Main Street. The only other embellishment on the green is a drinking fountain located a few feet north of the gazebo. A plaque on the fountain states that it was dedicated to the town by the Jaycees on November 11, 1988.

Abutting the green to the north is the Enfield Town Hall (1964) and parking lot. Enfield Street is a busy commercial street.
