The Palisado Green

The Palisado Green is located within Palisado Avenue National Register Historic District and protected by a local historic district ordinance. The National Register nominations form describes the green as follows: "Located between Palisado Avenue and North Meadow Road, near the south end of the (Palisado Avenue historic) district, the Green is oblong-shaped -- wider at its southern end, where institutional buildings stand (or stood) around its perimeter, and tapering at its northern end, where it gives way to a linear pattern of house lots."

There are mature maple trees and a single spruce tree along the borders of the green. A monument to the first settlers in the form of three granite slabs on a fourth slab is located on the green. Dedicated in 1930, it is erected on the site of the first meeting house.
