The Sharon Town Green is located within the local historic district and as such is provided protection from unsympathetic development, particularly since the streetscape has been built up and infill development is unlikely. Some recent construction has taken place behind buildings along Upper Main Street which has been discreetly screened from the street. The large commercial building at the northern part of the green on the east side of Route 41 is for sale. The State Department of Transportation has a right-of-way that includes almost half of the eastern side of the green. The potential harm of widening the street to include all the right-of-way is mitigated by Scenic Road status of Route 44.
